Hajj 2026: Saudi Defense Ministry Finalizes Comprehensive Plan for Pilgrim Safety

The Saudi Ministry of Defense has finalized its comprehensive operational plan for the 2026 Hajj season. Consequently, military, civilian, medical, and technical personnel have deployed across Makkah, Madinah, and the holy sites. This massive initiative supports security and government agencies to ensure pilgrim safety and smooth movement throughout the annual pilgrimage.

To achieve this, different military branches will execute specialized roles, as land forces will regulate crowds and detect hazardous materials. Meanwhile, the Royal Saudi Air Force will monitor airspace, manage air traffic, and conduct emergency surveillance operations. Additionally, naval forces will secure seaports and holy sites using explosive detection teams, drone operations, and search-and-rescue units.

Advanced Medical and Welfare Support

“The plan supports security and government agencies in ensuring the safety of pilgrims and facilitating their movement during the annual pilgrimage,” the ministry stated.

Therefore, the ministry’s medical services division has deployed healthcare missions across 41 vital locations. These hospitals and clinics offer more than 1,100 beds. Furthermore, over 2,160 medical professionals staff these facilities. To handle urgent cases, four fully equipped aircraft will provide air medical evacuation services around the clock.

Beyond security and health, the ministry is launching religious guidance programs. The initiative also accommodates foreign military attachés alongside the families of martyrs and injured personnel from coalition operations. Ultimately, these integrated efforts reflect the Kingdom’s dedication to hosting a seamless and secure Hajj.
