Organized by Jazan Literary Club, the event highlighted diverse woodcarving experiences that masterfully utilize local environmental materials, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

By reshaping these elements into pieces that embody Jazan‘s cultural identity, the artists integrated traditional elements, such as farming implements and coffee-making tools, as symbolic vessels of the region’s social and historical legacy.
Furthermore, the event featured a woodcarving exhibition on the sidelines, showcasing a diverse range of works that embodied the relationship between the artist and the local environment. The display also highlighted the art’s ability to reshape traditional elements into innovative, modern forms.
Woodcarving is a traditional craft that defines the cultural identity of Jazan Region, reflecting its rich artisanal heritage and natural environment.

Utilizing durable local woods such as juniper, sidr, and acacia, as well as tamarisk trunks, Jazan’s artisans produce a diverse range of wooden handiwork and daily-life essentials, including bowls, decorative panels, chairs, beds, fans, agricultural tools, and small storage boxes.

Jazan’s woodcarving stands as a bridge between the past and the present. These works are a vivid reminder of how the region turns raw nature into profound cultural expression, etching the soul of Jazan and its people into the grain of time.
