Saudi women are making remarkable strides under Vision 2030, emerging as vital drivers of the Kingdom’s development. Their role has grown from being seen as supportive to becoming a dynamic force that fuels economic growth, improves quality of life, and propels national advancement.
Dr. Sanaa Al-Otaibi, Director of the National Observatory for Women, highlighted 2025 as a landmark year for women’s empowerment. Female participation in the labor force rose to 34.2%, while overall economic participation among Saudi women reached 36.3%.
Women-led businesses have also seen remarkable growth, totaling 774,123 enterprises—accounting for 43.8% of all businesses. In addition, Saudi women secured a notable number of international patents in 2024 and 2025, underscoring their expanding role in the knowledge-based economy.
Al-Otaibi also noted the Kingdom’s strong global standing, with high rankings in the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law 2026 report and continued improvement in the Gender Gap Index. Saudi women have also earned international recognition through awards in innovation, scientific research, and sustainability.
Looking forward, women are expected to play an even greater role in emerging sectors such as the green, purple, and digital economies. Their involvement is anticipated to grow in advanced fields like artificial intelligence and biotechnology, as well as in leadership positions across strategic industries and community development initiatives.
