Makkah Friday Sermon Calls on Believers to Uphold Piety, Observe 6 Days of Shawwal Fasting

The Friday sermon in Makkah called on believers to maintain their piety even after the blessed season of Ramadan. Sheikh Bandar Balila, Imam of the Grand Mosque, reminded worshippers that true happiness comes from Allah’s grace—through guidance, acts of worship, and drawing closer to Him.
He distinguished this sincere joy from pride rooted in arrogance or heedlessness, urging Muslims instead to experience the sweetness of repentance and the deep fulfillment that comes from completing the fast and striving to meet Allah with righteous deeds.

In closing, he encouraged believers to show gratitude for the opportunity to worship by remaining firm on the path of righteousness. He also highlighted the Sunnah of fasting six days in Shawwal, describing it as a sign of accepted deeds and a way to sustain a lasting connection with Allah.
