Trump Affirms US Support for Saudi Arabia Following Iranian Strikes

US President Donald Trump has condemned the blatant Iranian strikes against Saudi Arabia, affirming support for all measures that the Kingdom takes to respond.

Saudi Arabia on Saturday intercepted Iranian missiles targeting Riyadh and Eastern regions, voicing its strongest rejection and condemnation of these cowardly attacks.

US Support for Saudi Arabia

Trump on Saturday called the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

During the call, Trump conveyed the US condemnation of the blatant missile attacks against the Kingdom, which were repelled by Saudi air defenses.

Importantly, Trump reaffirmed Washington’s support for Saudi Arabia and its backing of all measures the Kingdom takes to confront these Iranian violations that threaten regional security and stability.

Iran’s Cowardly Attacks

In retaliation for a major US-Israeli attack, Iran on Saturday launched barrages of missiles and drones toward US bases in the region and Israel.

The Iranian missiles targeted the command of the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain, and US bases in Qatar and the UAE, in addition to military targets in Israel. Some missiles targeted the Riyadh and Eastern regions in Saudi Arabia but were successfully intercepted.

In light of this, Saudi Arabia strongly rejected and condemned the “blatant and cowardly Iranian attacks targeting the Riyadh and Eastern Province regions, which were repelled,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Kingdom stressed that there is no justification for these attacks, as Saudi Arabia had previously affirmed to Iranian authorities that it would not allow its airspace or territory to be used to target Iran.

In the context of this unjustified attack, Saudi Arabia emphasized “it will take all necessary measures to defend its security and protect its territory, citizens, and residents, including the option of responding to the aggression.”

Military Confrontation

The US and Israel on Saturday carried out a major joint military operation against Iran to obliterate its nuclear and missile capabilities and topple the regime.

The strikes killed senior Iranian leaders, most notably Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, and top security adviser to Khamenei, Ali Shamkhani.

In response, Iran unleashed waves of drones and missile attacks across the region, targeting US bases and Israeli military targets. Over the past day, several explosions and missile interceptions were reported in Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and Israel.

Regional Solidarity

Against the backdrop of these Iranian strikes, Saudi Arabia underscored its full solidarity and unwavering support for the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, denouncing the brutal Iranian aggression and the flagrant violation of their sovereignty.

Furthermore, the Kingdom announced it has placed all its capabilities at their disposal to support any measures they may take.

In another sign of support, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called the leaders of these countries to stress solidarity and readiness to place all the Kingdom’s resources at their disposal to counter these aggressions.

These leaders included UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa; Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; Kuwait Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; and Jordan King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein.

The Saudi Crown Prince also received phone calls from several regional and world leaders following the Iranian aggression. These include French President Emmanuel Macron; Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif; Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi; Lebanese President Joseph Aoun; Morocco’s King Mohammed VI; German Chancellor Friedrich Merz; Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa; and Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
