Saudi Arabia will celebrate the Founding Day on Sunday February 22, marking the first of the Saudi public holidays 2026.
The day is recognized as an official public holiday across both the public and private sectors.
Saudi Founding Day marks the establishment of the first Saudi state in 1727, when Imam Muhammad bin Saud laid the foundations of governance in Diriyah.
In 2022, the day was introduced as an official holiday, standing out as one of the Kingdom’s three non-religious national observances.
The commemoration goes beyond a date on the calendar, it is a cultural depiction of ancestry, heritage, and national identity.
Celebrated with honor and joy across the Kingdom, the day features stunning traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, public festivities, and different concerts.
Saudis often celebrate the day by wearing region-specific traditional attire, expressing deep pride in their attire’s distinctive characteristics that set Saudis apart from the rest of the world.
This year, Founding Day coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, adding spiritual depth to the national celebrations.
