Saudi Arabia Demands Immediate Halt to RSF Atrocities in Sudan

Saudi Arabia has urgently called on Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to halt serious violations immediately across Sudan, emphasizing the RSF’s moral duty to guarantee humanitarian aid reaches vulnerable civilians without obstruction or delay whatsoever.

During a United Nations session in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila delivered Riyadh’s firm statement following an oral briefing by UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk, who explicitly attributed the horrific atrocities in El-Fasher, North Darfur’s capital, entirely to the RSF and its allied backers.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens Amid Targeted Attacks

Furthermore, Saudi officials strongly denounced the RSF’s criminal assaults against hospitals, aid convoys, and civilian shelters last October. These brutal operations killed dozens of displaced persons and unarmed civilians, including numerous women and innocent children seeking safety.

Consequently, Riyadh reaffirmed its steadfast support for Sudan’s territorial unity, national security, and institutional stability. The Kingdom demanded the paramilitary group immediately cease all violations and grant safe humanitarian access in full compliance with international law.

Local and international organizations confirm the RSF seized El-Fasher on October 26, 2025, then executed widespread massacres against defenseless residents. Meanwhile, fighting recently intensified across North, West, and South Kordofan states displacing tens of thousands more families.

Just last Saturday, Sudan’s government accused the RSF of deliberately striking a World Food Program convoy with drones in North Kordofan. The attack destroyed vital supplies and claimed additional civilian lives during an already catastrophic famine.

Path to Peace Remains Elusive

The RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces have battled since April 2023 over integrating paramilitary units into the national army structure. Therefore, this prolonged conflict has triggered one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters affecting millions.

Approximately 13 million Sudanese citizens now face displacement while tens of thousands have perished amid severe food shortages. Saudi Arabia continues coordinating with international partners to advance a sustainable political solution for lasting peace.

Riyadh’s latest diplomatic intervention underscores the Kingdom’s consistent regional leadership in crisis mediation efforts. Saudi officials urge all parties to prioritize civilian protection and resume meaningful negotiations without further delay or preconditions whatsoever.
