Saudi Arabia Braces for Sharp Temperature Decline, Strong Winds

Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a sharp decline in temperatures and active surface winds across several regions of the Kingdom, according to Gulf News.

This shift is anticipated to persist from Tuesday through Thursday. Strong winds are likely to stir up dust and sand in the affected areas.

The NCM warned that strong winds are expected to reduce visibility across several regions with a significant drop in minimum temperatures particularly in the northern parts of the Kingdom.

Temperatures in Tabuk, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, and northern parts of the Madinah region are expected to plunge to between 2°C and –2°C.

As for Al Qassim, the northern areas of the Eastern Province, and parts of the Riyadh region, the temperature is anticipated to range from 4°C down to 1°C.

The center reported that active surface winds will first affect Al Jouf and the Northern Borders on Tuesday.

By Tuesday evening and into Wednesday, the winds are expected to expand and span to Hail, Al Qassim, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, as well as Najran.

The center also expects the impact of strong winds to spread further by Wednesday and Thursday, reaching the eastern parts of the Asir and Al Baha regions, along with the Makkah and Madinah regions, including their coastal areas.

Therefore, the authorities have called on citizens and residents to exercise caution amid the weather fluctuations, particularly motorists and individuals with respiratory conditions, as dusty winds are expected to reduce both air quality and visibility in affected regions.
