The laboratories of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa) have obtained international ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the Saudi Accreditation Center.
This achievement represents the outcome of a comprehensive institutional development program aimed at improving laboratory quality, strengthening technical and operational preparedness across all regions, supporting public health, and gaining international recognition for laboratory testing.

The accreditation process began with the implementation of a unified quality management system across all laboratories.
Additionally, this initiative standardized procedures and documentation, enhanced testing efficiency, and reinforced adherence to international best practices to ensure accurate and reliable results in line with accreditation requirements.
The journey also involved specialized staff training, readiness assessments, internal audits, management reviews, and the resolution of technical observations, culminating in a successful evaluation by the accreditation body.

Finally, Weqaa reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous development of laboratory systems, the expansion of international accreditations, and the enhancement of technical and operational capabilities to support prevention and control efforts and to strengthen confidence in national laboratory outputs.
