Visual Arts Commission Opens Applications for 2nd Cycle of Intermix Residency

The Visual Arts Commission has announced an open call for the second cycle of the third edition of the Intermix Residency, to be held at the JAX District in Diriyah.

Previous editions of Intermix have hosted more than 70 participants from around the world. The current edition consists of three residency cycles, each lasting three months and hosting 15 residents, including visual artists and curators from Saudi Arabia and internationally.

Residents receive full funding, access to dedicated studio spaces, and tailored mentorship, along with professional development opportunities such as workshops, lectures, and field visits. Each cycle concludes with an Open Studio event, offering residents the opportunity to present their work to the public, cultural institutions, and program partners.

The residency also provides fully funded accommodation, production support, and a collaborative environment that encourages artistic experimentation and exchange among artists, experts, and the wider community.

Intermix is structured around three core pillars—innovation, transformation, and sustainability—which shape its curatorial vision and developmental framework. Through this approach, the program seeks to strengthen the artist residency ecosystem, promote creative dialogue, and contribute to the growth of the contemporary visual arts sector.

Applications are open until February 5, 2026. Information on subsequent cycles will be announced at a later date. Applicants must apply through the commission’s digital platform, be at least 21 years old, and commit to the full duration of the residency.
