The US State Department announced, on Wednesday, that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Saudi Arabia from February 19 to 21.
The US State Department said Pompeo will meet with Saudi King King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan during a three-day visit to the Kingdom that begins today, Wednesday.
This comes, after a visit by bin Farhan Al Saud to Washington on February 12, during which he discussed the US-Saudi partnership in confronting Iran.
The State Department said, in a statement, that the two ministers “discussed the need to confront the destabilizing actions of the Iranian regime.”
The statement also stated that the two ministers expressed concern about the violence in Yemen, especially the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, and agreed on “the need to reduce the escalation quickly.”
For his part, the Saudi foreign minister said that the meeting was fruitful and constructive, and we look forward to the continuation of the work to achieve the common goals.
