UN discusses refugees’ misery at Riyadh Book Fair
The UN discussed the issues of refugees and forcibly displaced persons at the Riyadh Book Fair 2021 through its pavilion, with an estimated 82.4 million refugees and forcibly displaced persons worldwide.
Noha Maarouf, the official in charge of external relations with the United Nations, indicated that their goal is to educate people about an important humanitarian issue, which is the issue of the exclusively displaced.
“The vast majority of these displaced individuals are Muslims fleeing to nearby developing and destitute areas, and UNHCR’s mission is to provide protection, life-saving assistance, and a basic level of services that ensure human dignity,” she explained.
Humanitarian issues
“The presence of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in a significant platform like the Riyadh exhibition is again,” she said, “since it allows us to focus light on humanitarian issues, particularly Saudi Arabia’s involvement in alleviating the suffering of refugees.”
