The Saudi Post (SPL) received recognition from the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for its efforts to meet international security standards to enhance the safety and security of the postal sector, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During the UPU Investment Council’s meetings, held in Bern, Switzerland, the SPL received the Postal Security Gold Certification. It a recognition for implementing the postal security standards for the international supply chain, as well as its commitment to implementing the UPU’s strategy that aims to build postal institutions’ capacities in the field of postal security.
Moreover, the award underscores Saudi Arabia’s leadership in providing postal services and logistics capabilities, in addition to achieving the goals of sustainable postal development.

The award also highlights SPL’s commitment to the international security standards through the secure handling and transportation of mail shipments during all the logistical stages, promoting its competitiveness locally and globally.
The SPL secured the Gold Certification after a thorough inspection process by UPU’s experts to ensure it adheres to the key requirements of postal security, including ensuring the safety of postal operations, the health and safety of employees, and risks’ assessment and management to guarantee a safe and sustainable work environment.
The inspection process included the examination of all operations, buildings, systems and equipment used in handling mail shipments, as well as evaluating the security monitoring operations at the logistics exchange center at King Khalid International Airport and measuring security levels at the postal exchange offices.
The Postal Security Gold Certification is a high-level recognition of SPL’s employees and their tireless efforts to implement measures required to get the accreditation for adhering to the UPU’s security standards S58 and S59. It aligns with the SPL’s strategic objectives to be the leading destination and the first choice of the public and private sectors.
