Special Bachelor’s: Saudi mother and daughter graduate together
Aida Al-Rashidi, a Saudi mother, shared an inspiring story alongside her daughter, Arej. After a lengthy study trip, it was amid great joy that both graduated yesterday from Shaqra University in the presence of their family, colleagues, and university employees.
Now, daughter and mother want to serve their country and set wonderful examples of perseverance to reach goals and achieve ambitions.
Mother Aida spoke to Al Arabiya.net: “I have five daughters and three grandchildren, and despite that, I defied all circumstances and decided to achieve my childhood dream: obtain a bachelor’s degree, and this is what happened last night.”
In return, Areej said: “I have feelings of joy and pride about my mother’s graduation. We encouraged each other during university studies to achieve high grades.”
Business Administration & Education
Aida said she could reconcile between studies and manage family’s affairs. She and daughter Areej live together and found in each other support to study.
“I joined the university after I finished my secondary studies through the home system. After a year, I found all the support from my daughters and husband until I reached what I have conquered today. I am delighted with this achievement. Our house is happy that my daughter and I graduated on the same day.”
She also explained: “I majored in Business Administration at the College of Science and Human Studies in Shaqra, and my daughter Areej majored in Education at the College of Science and Human Studies. Currently, I aspire to specialize more, especially in light of the support that education and Saudi women are receiving from the Kingdom’s leadership.”
Shaqra University held the virtual graduation ceremony yesterday for the twelfth batch, which includes approximately 6,300 male and female graduates. The President of Shaqra University, Dr Ali Al-Seif, congratulated all graduates, wishing them further excellence and success.
