The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) has unveiled the schedule for updating geological data packages, as part of the General Geological Survey Initiative on the National Geological Database Web Portal, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
These packages include vital geological data including:
- Surface geochemical surveys
- Airborne geophysical surveys of the General Geological Survey Program
- Optical scanning of core drilling samples
- Technical reports in digital format
- Newly recorded mineral sites in the National Geological Database
Schedule
1st Quarter
The launch of the data package schedule on January 11 of each year coincides with the annual Future of Minerals Conference, according to the SGS official spokesperson, Tariq bin Ali Aba Al-Khail.
2nd Quarter
The launch during the second quarter will coincide with Earth Day on April 22.
3rd Quarter
It will be on July 23.
4th Quarter
It will be on October 25, coinciding with the date of the establishment of the SGS.
The exact time for uploading updates for all quarters will be at 12 noon, Kingdom time.
Aba Al-Khail stated that this initiative stands as a testament to the SGS’s pivotal role in achieving great added value for the mining sector, by providing reliable, diverse, high-quality geological survey data, supporting exploration operations for mineral resources, and enhancing the attractiveness of local and foreign investments in the Kingdom.
He emphasized that such initiatives and programs contribute to stimulating the economy and diversifying the Kingdom’s sources of income.
