Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah Reviews Innovative Models for Serving Guests of God
The Participants in the exhibition accompanying the scientific forum for Hajj, Umrah and Visitation Research showcased unique innovations in various fields and specializations. The innovations seek to confront the challenges and crises to serve the guests of God during Hajj, Umrah and Visitation under the slogan (Transportation and Crowd Management). Participants had the opportunity to display their effective creative innovations to overcome difficulties that pilgrims face at all levels with passion and ambition to serve the guests of God.
Umm Al-Qura University
A student at the College of Medicine at Umm Al-Qura University explained an ideal model for treating sunstroke and heat stress, which is the “active bed,” which works to protect sunstroke patients from complications. It consists of three main parts: the mobile field bed, the protective insulator equipped with supply and spray fans, and the water tank accompanied by air conditioning. Moreover, the innovation contributes to reducing the patient’s health complications, lack of cooling resources and lack of medical staff.
College of Applied Sciences
A team from the College of Applied Sciences also came up with the idea of merging two devices into one to reduce costs, revive the patient in a better way, and obtain the best results in emergency and disaster situations. The two devices are: an electric shock device and a cardiac arrest diagnosis device, and a LUCAS device for performing chest compressions. The device’s innovation aims to facilitate and improve the quality of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation process, reduce the duration of the presence of two different devices by merging them into one device, and reduce the space in ambulances and in places where LUCAS devices and defibrillators are located. It also addresses many challenges, including: the long effort and preoccupation of workers with chest compressions when the patient’s heart stops, the time period required to bring two different devices when there is a cardiac arrest case, and the high financial budget to provide a large number of the two devices.
