Saudi team for the unified football of Special Olympics achieves gold in the World Cup
In the Special Olympics World Cup, which was held in Detroit, USA, the Saudi squad for Special Olympics unified football made history by taking first place and the gold medal.
It defeated the Romanian team 3-1 – during their confrontation today – in the final match.
The Saudi Green players performed at a high level throughout the competition, demonstrating their readiness for this international stage.
They prevailed over illustrious competitors, the last of which was the Romanian national team, and with it, they took home the gold in the contests.
In response, Abdul Rahman Al-Quraishi, the national director of the Saudi Special Olympics, commended the athletes, the technical and administrative team, and the Saudi delegation for this outstanding accomplishment.
President of the International Special Olympics, Dr. Timothy Shriver, congratulated the Saudi team on the victory and all the participants for what they did during the tournament matches.
