Saudi Ministry of Culture participates in G20 Culture Working Group Meeting

The General Supervisor of Cultural Affairs and International Relations at the Ministry of Culture, Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq, representing the Ministry of Culture, participated in the second G20 Culture Working Group Meeting, that was held on Thursday and Friday April 22-23, 2021 AD.

The meeting comes in preparation to the ministerial meeting, which the heads of relevant international organizations and the cultures ministers of the G20 will attend.

The meetings are part of the Kingdom’s initiative to establish a cultural track alongside the G20 summit meetings.

It will contribute to creating an effective international dialogue in which the most important global cultural issues are discussed.

Italy, the state of the presidency for this year, approved the cultural track meetings for the year 2021 AD, to discuss three priorities represented in combating the illicit trade in cultural property, addressing the climate change crisis through culture, and building capacity through training and education.

Saudi Arabia is participating in the meetings as vice president of the second G20 Culture Working Group Meeting for the current year.

It succeeded in creating the cultural path during the Kingdom’s hosting of the G20 summit for the year 2020 AD, by organizing the first high-level ministerial meeting of the culture ministers of the G20 countries.

Saudi Arabia supported The Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to continue holding it within the framework of the summit that is held annually.
