Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Iraqi, Kuwaiti Counterparts

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan met the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq Fuad Hussein and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya in Riyadh on Wednesday, reported Arab News.

They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in various fields and highlighted the importance of intensifying bilateral and multilateral coordination on issues of common interest.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived in Kuwait on an official visit three days ago. The visit came in the wake of Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah’s assumption of the Crown Prince.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled took the constitutional oath before the Emir of Kuwait upon his appointment as Crown Prince. He rose through the ranks of the diplomatic corps and served as ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait’s delegate to the Organization of the Islamic Conference until 1998.

In 1998, he was appointed head of the National Security Service with the rank of minister. About 8 years later, he became Minister of Social Affairs and Labor in 2006, and then Minister of Information in 2008.
