Saudi Min. of Foreign Affairs Chairs Arab Summit Preparatory Meeting

Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired, in Riyadh today, the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers for the Urgent session of the Arab Summit to discuss Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister delivered a speech, stressing that the summit to be hosted by the Kingdom next Saturday November 11, 2023 is only a response to the dangerous situation in the Gaza Strip.
He called on the international community, including the Security Council, to stand up and bear the its responsibilities, taking deterrent action that puts an end to this tragedy.
He urged the international community to issue a resolution aimed at an immediate cessation of military operations, provide civil protection, release hostages and prisoners, and stop the forced displacement of the Palestinian people in compliance with international norms.
Arab Summit Preparatory Meeting
On Thursday, Arab foreign ministers held a preparatory meeting in Riyadh for the emergency Arab summit scheduled for next Saturday, to discuss ways to confront the ongoing escalation in Palestine.
It is expected that the emergency Arab summit will demand a ceasefire, in addition to a solid political position to support the Palestinians.
This meeting is the second in less than a month, after the first meeting that was held urgently at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, on October 10, upon the request of the State of Palestine.
Next Saturday, leaders of the 22 Arab countries will meet in Saudi Arabia to hold an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the leadership level, to discuss ways to confront the ongoing crisis in the Palestinian territories.
Gaza Updates
For 34 days, the Israeli army has been waging a war on Gaza; more than 10,569 Palestinians were killed, 26,475 were injured. In the West Bank, 163 Palestinians were killed and 2,280 were arrested.
The death toll in Israel exceeded 1,400 people, while more than 5 people were injured.
