The prestigious “Jewels of the World” exhibition will now offer on-site value-added tax (VAT) refunds for its international visitors. This strategic initiative results from a new partnership between event organizers and Global Blue. The move significantly enhances the shopping experience for overseas guests.
A Landmark Initiative for Luxury Tourism
This year’s event will process value-added tax refunds directly on the exhibition floor. Organizers designed this service specifically for international tourists. Consequently, this development underscores Saudi Arabia’s ambitious drive to become a premier global luxury destination.
Nader Freiha, the exhibition director, emphasized the strategic importance of this service. He stated that this initiative signals Saudi Arabia’s serious commitment to luxury tourism. The partnership with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and Global Blue made this seamless service possible.
The “Jewels of the World” exhibition will first open in Riyadh from October 3-7. It will take place at the iconic Four Seasons Hotel. The event will then move to the Jeddah Hilton, running there from October 11-14. More than 100 international luxury brands will participate in this dazzling showcase.
Freiha confirmed that international brand interest in the Saudi market is soaring. He noted that global trade shifts are redirecting brand focus toward the Kingdom. The Saudi market boasts robust demand and a highly sophisticated clientele. Freiha also confirmed that demand from international brands has never been higher.
Beyond Curiosity: A Strategic Market Imperative
The appetite for the Saudi luxury consumer has now evolved dramatically. Freiha clarified that the market has moved beyond mere curiosity. Engaging with Saudi consumers is now a strategic imperative for global brands. He highlighted the specific desire of independent Italian jewellers to build long-term recognition in Riyadh.
The exhibition will feature an exciting mix of established houses and emerging designers. Freiha explained that each group generates a different kind of excitement. Established houses bring a powerful sense of legacy and security to the event. Meanwhile, independent designers create a palpable buzz with their unique, avant-garde creations.
This year’s trends highlight a fascinating fusion of global influences. Freiha pointed to a move toward bold, architectural forms in jewelry design. These contemporary pieces still incorporate traditional cultural motifs. He also highlighted a renewed fascination with rare natural pearls. This trend beautifully connects with the region’s deep heritage. Vibrant, sculptural emeralds are also gaining significant traction this season.
