Saudi Harvest Reveals NEOM’s Latest Technologies
Saudi Harvest Reveals Technologies Used in NEOM

NEOM is an area located in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The NEOM project means ‘The New Future.’ It is also a company with more than 2,800 employees from 86 countries, currently working and living in the NEOM region. This confirms that NEOM has indeed become a home for dreamers and achievers, who aspire to contribute to building a new economic model for the Kingdom and the world.
Technologies Used in the NEOM Project
There are many technologies used in the NEOM project, which was announced by the Kingdom in 2023.
Desalination Technologies
NEOM has become a global reference offering new and innovative methodologies for water desalination, including high-recovery membrane technologies and low-energy systems.
Treating Seawater for Mineral Extraction
There will be complete global-level treatment of seawater, including exploration for brine solution, to extract high-value minerals and secondary materials like magnesium and high-purity salts. Thus, achieving zero waste levels while generating strong economic value.
NEOM Green Hydrogen
On November 7, 2023, NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, responsible for establishing the world’s largest green hydrogen production plant, announced the receipt of the first batch of wind turbines after their arrival at ‘NEOM Port’ in ‘Oxagon. Oxagon the city of clean and advanced industries.
The successful receipt of these turbines on October 8 represents a qualitative advancement in establishing and developing this massive global project. Currently, work is underway to transport power transformers by land to the wind power station near the Gulf of Aqaba, for assembly and installation.
Integration of Renewable Energy
Environmental sustainability continuity lies in several factors. The most important of which is the 100% use of renewable energy in all aspects of life. This includes water desalination processes, mineral recovery using concentrated solar power, as well as wasted heat. Moreover, the factors include electrical grids from renewable energy sources.
Cooling Greenhouses
Cooling green houses means concentrating the brine solution through evaporative cooling in specialized marine greenhouses for propagation. Thus, it becomes possible to produce high-value crops and recover minerals that provide the greatest benefit to customers.
NEOM is a Saudi project for a planned city. Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Saudi Prime Minister launched the project in 2017.
Project Objective
The project is located in the extreme northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Tabuk, Duba Governorate. It extends 460 km along the Red Sea coast.
The project aims, based on the ambitious aspirations of Vision 2030, to transform the Kingdom into a leading global model in various aspects of life. KSA focuses on attracting value chains in industries and technology within the project.
