The emergency virtual meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation took place on Sunday upon the request of Saudi Arabia; the meeting began to discuss the escalation in Palestine.

At the start of the session, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said, “Israel is carrying out flagrant violations against the Palestinians.”

According to the privately-owned Saudi Tv network of Al-Arabiya, the meeting draft resolution submitted to include condemnation of “Israel’s brutal attacks against the Palestinians,” and demands “an end to all Israeli violations,” in addition to considering “the UN Security Council is responsible for taking immediate action to stop Israel’s aggression.”

The draft OIC resolution expresses “concern about the acceleration of the Israeli settlement process,” and includes “a warning against the continuation of Israeli provocations and attacks.”

The resolution is expected to call for “international legal action through international courts and United Nations agencies to force Israel to pay material and moral compensation for the damage it caused to the Palestinian infrastructure.”

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation had said in its statement issued on Saturday, in which it called for the emergency meeting: “At the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Chair of the Islamic Summit and the country of the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, an emergency virtual meeting of the Executive Committee will be held tomorrow at the level of foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
