Saudi Fashion Commission Boosts Local Talent with French Partnership
The Saudi Fashion Commission has launched an educational initiative for local fashion pioneers in collaboration with the French Fashion Institute and the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation, ‘Misk.’ This partnership aims to empower the local fashion industry, providing professionals with essential tools for creativity and excellence.
The programs, announced in June, blend the latest knowledge with hands-on experience. They offer a platform for designers, brand owners, and investors to grow their expertise in the fashion industry.
Training Courses for Career Advancement
The initiative includes five courses, starting with a preparatory course in executive business management. This course spans three stages: a virtual session, an in-person program in Riyadh, and a final session in Paris. Key topics include planning, marketing, sales, brand identity, strategy, visual merchandising, and retail.
In Paris, participants receive advanced lectures on digital marketing, financial management, product development, and production. This global approach equips Saudi fashion professionals with industry-leading insights and practical skills.
Sustainability Practices and Circular Economy
Another course focuses on advanced sustainability practices within fashion. Conducted in two phases—a virtual session and an in-person program in Riyadh—it explores the circular economy in fashion, innovation in sustainable design, and strategies for social responsibility. Participants will gain practical knowledge on implementing sustainable practices within their business models.
Research and Creative Exploration in Fashion Design
The commission also offers a course in advanced research methods for design. The six-day program, conducted virtually and in Paris, emphasizes the foundations of designing a fashion collection. It integrates contemporary fashion trends with local heritage materials, textiles, and architecture, encouraging unique design perspectives.
Visual Merchandising and Photography Skills
Additionally, the Fashion Commission introduces a comprehensive course on visual merchandising and marketing. Spanning seven days in Riyadh, this program teaches the fundamentals of building a fashion brand. Topics include marketing basics, visual display techniques, trend analysis, and insights into distribution channels.
Lastly, participants can enroll in a fashion photography course designed to enhance their visual storytelling skills. This intensive six-day program, held in Riyadh, provides an in-depth exploration of fashion photography, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice.
Through these programs, the Saudi Fashion Commission continues to strengthen the local fashion industry and nurture the next generation of fashion leaders.
