Saudi Defense Min., Iran’s Military Chief of Staff Discuss Regional Developments
The Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, and the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, have discussed the latest developments in the region in a phone call, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
On a post on X, Prince Khalid said that he received a phone call from Mousavi, during which they reviewed relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in the defense field.
Moreover, the two officials discussed the latest developments in the region and efforts made to preserve security and stability.
Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi was appointed as Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces on June 13, 2025, replacing Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, who was killed during the Israeli attacks on Iran.
In April 2025, the Saudi Defense Minister visited Iran and met with the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and senior Iranian officials in Tehran, upon the directives of the Saudi leadership.
During his meeting with Khamenei, Prince Khalid bin Salman delivered a letter from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and conveyed the greetings of Saudi Arabia’s leadership. They discussed bilateral relations and topics of mutual interest.
Prince Khalid bin Salman also met with Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian. During their meeting, the Saudi Defense Minister conveyed the greetings of the Kingdom’s leadership and reviewed the Saudi-Iranian relations and explored ways to enhance them.
