Saudi Crown Prince Says his country is keen to enhance cooperation with Thailand

Saudi Crown Prince, HRH Mohammed bin Salman met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Thailand, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, at the Thai government headquarters in the capital, Bangkok.

 

The Crown Prince and the Thai Prime Minister held an official session of talks. During this session, they discussed aspects of bilateral relations and ways to develop and strengthen them, in addition to exchanging conversations on several issues of common concern.

 

Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, “Since our first meeting with you in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on your first visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, almost nine months ago, it was agreed to cooperate in many sectors, and many of them were accomplished more than we expected, and this confirms that the opportunities between our two countries are much more extensive.”

 

“From what we aspired to, and this is a very encouraging thing, we are working today in cooperation in several areas in the field of energy, tourism, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, and other areas that countries will benefit from.” He added.

“Saudi Arabia was the first Arab country to build a relationship with Thailand in the fifties, and now we look forward to moving to another stage in the relationship between the two countries. Today, we will witness the signing of many agreements, and we will also discuss many opportunities in the future that we will work on next year.” He explained.

For its part, the Thai government said that it had discussed with Saudi Arabia the availability of work for skilled workers in the Kingdom.

“We look forward to working with Saudi Arabia in the fields of construction projects, food security, health, and tourism,” The Thai government added.

The Saudi Crown Prince and the Thai Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of several memorandums of understanding between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Thailand.

The agreements included a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Energy in the Kingdom of Thailand and a memorandum of understanding to establish the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of tourism was signed between the Ministry of Tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in the Kingdom of Thailand.

The fifth memorandum of understanding was between the Control and Anti-Corruption Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the National Anti-Corruption Authority in the Kingdom of Thailand in the field of preventing and combating corruption.

The Saudi Crown Prince met on Friday in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, with King Maha Vjiralongkorn Pra Clauchaoyu Hua, King of the Kingdom of Thailand, at Chakri Maha Persat Throne Hall.
