Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha held a series of bilateral meetings with ministers of digital economy in friendly countries and leaders of major industrial and space companies to enhance partnerships and explore investment opportunities in these vital sectors.
The meetings came on the sidelines of the second day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting held in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Al-Swaha met with Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Dr. Narek Mkrtchyan; Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology Tiit Riisalo; Rwandan Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation Paula Ingabire; Chairman of Mitsubishi Industries Shunichi Miyanaga; and Axiom Chairman Kam Ghaffarian.
In each meeting, Al-Swaha discussed strengthening strategic partnerships with friendly countries. He explored investment opportunities in the fields of emerging technologies, digital government, and entrepreneurship empowerment. He also discussed developing digital talents and supporting innovation, the role of digital economy as a basic pillar for future growth, and empowering youth and women to enhance innovation.
In addition, Al-Swaha discussed partnerships in space infrastructure, as well as developing capabilities in Saudi Arabia’s space sector through shared programs in the field of research, development and training.
Saudi Vision 2030 focuses on diversifying the Kingdom’s economy and harnessing technology for growth. Therefore, the Kingdom has launched several initiatives and programs to boost digital economy.
As a result, Saudi Arabia’s digital economy has experienced robust growth, tripling in size to surpass 460bn SAR. This remarkable achievement highlights the Kingdom’s rapid embrace of digital transformation and its commitment to enhancing innovation and technological advancement as a key pillar of its Vision 2030.
