Saudi-British parliamentary coordination regionally and internationally
The Saudi-British Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Shura Council in Riyadh, during its meeting chaired by Council Member and Chairman of the Committee Dr. Ghazi bin Zagr, with a delegation of members of the British Parliament in the Houses of Commons and Lords, headed by Yasmine Qureshi, reviewed many issues of common interest between the two countries in various fields.
They also reviewed parliamentary issues between the Shura Council and the British Parliament, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between them in various fields. They stressed the importance of enhancing continuous communication.
It is noteworthy that the Parliamentary Friendship Committees in the Shura Council aim to strengthen friendship ties between the Shura Council and parliaments in brotherly and friendly countries. In addition, they aim to achieve the greatest degree of coordination and cooperation in parliamentary forums at the regional and international levels.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has historical and distinguished relations with the United Kingdom in various political, security, military, trade, investment, and financial services fields. In addition, health, education, energy, industry, and the environment, as well as culture, sports, and tourism. The visit of the British Prime Minister will contribute to strengthening and developing these relations.
Communication between the leaders and officials of the two countries, mutual visits, and official talks continued over the years, up to the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – who worked on developing foreign relations and opened broader horizons for cooperation in a way that serves common interests and achieves stability and world peace.
Saudi-British relations, under a foreign policy that consolidates the principle of joint action and convergence of points of view, have moved towards closer bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially the economic aspect, within the framework of the Kingdom’s future vision for 2030.
In the same context, the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense – may God protect him – testify to the advancement of the Saudi-British friendship, as he worked to document it, enhance aspects of cooperation and build strategic partnerships that contribute to serving the common interests between the two countries.
Both countries, in line with the Kingdom’s vision for 2030, are integrating political efforts to change regional and international relations.
