AI and Job Market Dynamics
The President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, highlighted the significant impact of AI in the labor market, reported the Saudi Press Agency. AI is set to create an impressive 69 million jobs over the next five years, according to a recent report by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
During the first global labour market conference, Alghamdi emphasized AI’s role in enhancing current human jobs rather than replacing them. This aligns with a study by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Alghamdi stressed that the evolving labor market, leaning towards AI, should be viewed as an opportunity rather than a threat. Proper implementation of AI, governed by relevant policies, can significantly enhance human capabilities and offer innovative solutions.
The job market has seen the emergence of new roles such as AI Engineer, AI Writer, Input Engineer, and Content Experts. This dynamic shift leads to strategic challenges,. The challenges include a shortage of employees skilled enough for these new roles and therefore greater competition in the market for this small number of skilled emplyees.
