Saudi Arabia to Lead Arab Housing Council Executive Office (2026–2027)

The Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction has elected the Saudi Arabia as President of its Executive Office for the 2026–2027 term. The announcement was made during the council’s 42nd session, held in Doha, Qatar.

At the same meeting, member states approved the theme for Arab Housing Day 2026, submitted by the Kingdom. The theme emphasizes strengthening community resilience, building adaptive communities, advancing urban sustainability, and enhancing the preparedness of Arab cities to meet future challenges.

This election reflects the council’s ongoing efforts to enhance Arab cooperation in housing and construction, while drawing on the diverse expertise of member states to advance housing policies and urban planning strategies that support balanced development across the region.

Through its leadership of the Executive Office, the Kingdom will work to reinforce joint Arab initiatives and encourage the exchange of technical and regulatory knowledge in urban planning, as well as in the development of real estate systems and legislation. These efforts aim to help Arab countries foster more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive housing environments.

The adoption of the 2026 Arab Housing Day theme further underscores a shared Arab commitment to building communities capable of adapting to economic, environmental, and social transformations, while ensuring access to adequate housing and improving quality of life in cities across the Arab world.
