Saudi Arabia to Host Internet Governance Forum 2024 in December

Saudi Arabia will host the Internet Governance Forum 2024 in December at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the forum will serve as a valuable platform for international experts to discuss internet policies.

Set to be the 19th edition of the UN Internet Governance Forum, the event will take place between Dec. 15-19.

Themed “Building our Multistakeholder Digital Future”, the forum will bring together over 10,000 participants from 160 countries, and over 1,000 international speakers.

“It was an exceptional platform in the era of artificial intelligence to enhance international digital cooperation between governments, the private sector, the nonprofit sector, pioneers, and innovators,” Abdullah Al-Swaha, the Saudi minister of communications and information technology, said.

Furthermore, it will be a great opportunity to exchange ideas, accelerate the economic growth and prosperity for societies, and ensure a sustainable digital future for humanity.

In the light of this, the forum will focus on four main topics:

  • Innovation and risk in the digital space
  • Development and sustainability
  • Promoting human rights and inclusiveness
  • Improving the digital governance of the internet

Crucially, the event will feature 300 sessions and workshops, offering participants an important platform to explore the latest internet governance policies.

Moreover, they will delve into the emerging digital challenges and the best practices in the field.
