Saudi Arabia Sends 18th Relief Aircraft to Palestine
Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing aid to Palestine is exemplified by the deployment of its 18th relief aircraft, a significant step in a long-standing humanitarian initiative.
The aircraft, landing at Al-Arish airport, carried crucial supplies, including fully-equipped ambulances. These vehicles are vital for enhancing emergency medical services in the region, directly benefiting the Palestinian population.
The initiative, led by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), is part of a broader effort directed by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
This campaign underscores Saudi Arabia’s dedication to offering essential support and medical aid to the Palestinian people, reflecting the nation’s humanitarian spirit.
Extensive Aid Program
Saudi Arabia’s assistance to Palestine has been expansive and continuous. Over the years, the Kingdom has dispatched numerous relief aircraft to the El Arish International Airport. Each loaded with tons of critical aid, including food, shelter, and medical supplies.
This assistance will meticulously transport to the Gaza Strip, demonstrating Saudi Arabia’s commitment to aiding those in need. Remarkably, the Kingdom has also dispatched 25 planes carrying 1,050 tons of relief goods to Port Said in Egypt.
The first batch of Saudi assistance arrived via a KSrelief vessel, signifying the start of the Saudi humanitarian maritime bridge. The vessel carried 1,050 tons of food, medical supplies, and shelter provisions from Jeddah Islamic port to Port Said, Egypt, then transferred to Gaza.
This step highlighted the importance of ensuring humanitarian corridors for urgent relief aid and preventing the forced displacement of Palestinians.
Long-Term Commitment, Impact
Over the past 17 years, Saudi Arabia’s aid to the Palestinian people has exceeded $6 billion. This aid includes development aid of over $4.5 billion, humanitarian aid nearing $1.1 billion, and philanthropic assistance totaling $17.3 million.
An additional $200 million was pledged, including significant contributions to UNRWA and the Palestinian Waqf Program in Jerusalem. These figures illustrate the depth and breadth of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Palestinian welfare.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has undertaken significant development projects.Such as a $263.17 million initiative to build and renovate housing units in Palestinian refugee camps.
Another notable project is the $107 million housing development in Rafah, which includes the construction of an integrated residential city. These projects, among others, showcase Saudi Arabia’s integral role in aiding Palestinian development.
The Kingdom’s programs are often in collaboration with KSrelief’s partners, including various international organizations and UN agencies. This collaborative approach maximizes the impact and reach of Saudi aid.
Saudi Arabia’s 18th relief aircraft to Palestine is more than just a shipment of ambulances. It symbolizes a profound and ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid and development in the region.
Through these efforts, Saudi Arabia has demonstrated its role as a pivotal player in global humanitarian efforts. It provided a lifeline to the Palestinian people in their time of need.
