As part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to localise medical items, the Kingdom was able to make the first fully-made N95 masks on its land.
In collaboration with the “Dimas” firm for non-woven textiles, the Saudi Mais Company for Medical Products was able to develop the first N95 masks made in the Kingdom from “polypropylene” manufactured in Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, known as (SABIC).
After meeting the requirements of the Food and Drug General Authority in the Kingdom as a medical product, the mask received the appropriate approvals.
A SABIC team visited the Dimas Company and the Saudi Mais Company for Medical Products, where officials from both companies praised SABIC’s efforts through its “Nusaned” initiative in producing the first raw materials dedicated to the manufacture of the N95 mask entirely from innovative national materials.
They stressed the necessity of private-public sector collaboration to support national products and localise enterprises in the sphere of personal and health protection equipment.
