Saudi Arabia may host the 2030 World Cup: Athletic Magazine
Under the title “Not out of reach”, Saudi Arabia is considering applying to the International Football Association “FIFA” to organize the 2030 World Cup jointly with Italy.
According to what was published by the American “The Athletic” network today, Friday, FIFA encourages countries to jointly organize the World Cup to reduce the financial burden on countries from hosting the event, in light of the increase in the number of participating teams from 2026 to 48, which means that there are 80 additional matches.
The report indicated that the American company “Boston Consulting” submitted a proposal to Saudi Arabia that it should submit a request to organize the World Cup, but jointly with another country and not alone.
One of those proposals stipulates that Saudi Arabia present the file of organizing the World Cup, with Egypt and Morocco.
The report indicated that this proposal is logical from a geographical point of view, but at the same time, it stressed that both Egypt and Morocco need to make huge infrastructure improvements.
Therefore, Italy remains the closest candidate to apply with Saudi Arabia to host the World Cup, according to the report.
So far, England has made a British alliance to host the World Cup in the 2030 edition in cooperation with the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
The report hinted at the strength of Saudi-Italian relations in the recent period, including the establishment of the Italian Super Cup on the land of the first.
This is in addition to the possibility that Saudi Arabia will establish a television sports network similar to “BEIN Sports”, and that the first right it will obtain is to broadcast the Italian League matches.
