Saudi Arabia Launches SR8 Billion Corridor Development Projects

Saudi Arabia has set in motion the third phase of Riyadh’s vast road corridor expansion, a venture worth more than SR8 billion, according to Gulf News.

The program is a cornerstone of Riyadh’s broader push to reshape the capital’s transport network, easing congestion and driving a new era of urban connectivity.

Key upgrades feature the expansion of Jeddah Road, spanning 29 kilometers and reinforced with 14 bridges and five lanes. This development seeks to foster capacity along one of Riyadh’s busiest arteries.

Meanwhile, Taif Road will undergo a 15‑kilometre upgrade, featuring four bridges and four lanes to ensure smoother traffic flow across the capital.

Plans also include Thumamah Road, an eight‑kilometer stretch reinforced with three bridges and three tunnels to ease congestion and strengthen connectivity.

King Abdulaziz Road will see a 4.7‑kilometre upgrade with four bridges, while Othman bin Affan Road will undergo a 4.3‑kilometre expansion with seven bridges.

Upon completion, the projects are poised to transform Riyadh’s expanding road network, offering smoother mobility, safety, and greater travel efficiency.
