Saudi Arabia Blasts Deadly Israeli Strike on Gaza School

Saudi Arabia has condemned an Israeli strike on a Gaza school that killed about 100 people on Saturday. The school was housing displaced families. The attack also injured 47 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Saudi Arabia’s Response

In a statement, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and called it a violation of international law. The Kingdom criticized the international community for failing to hold Israel accountable for its actions. Saudi Arabia has urged an end to the “genocide” in Gaza, describing the situation as an “unprecedented humanitarian disaster.”

Three missiles hit the Tabeen school in central Gaza City, also damaging a nearby mosque. Many in Gaza used this school as a shelter for displaced individuals due to ongoing conflict. Since July 6, the conflict has damaged or struck at least 14 schools in Gaza.

Hamas condemned the strike as a horrific crime and serious escalation. They asserted that none of the deceased were combatants. Hamas accuses Israel of using civilian areas for military operations, a charge Israel denies.

The attack adds to the damage of educational facilities in Gaza. The United Nations reports that 477 out of 564 schools have been hit or damaged as of July 6. In June, an Israeli strike on another school killed at least 33 people, including 12 women and children.

Mediation Efforts for Gaza

This attack comes as American, Qatari, and Egyptian officials renew mediation efforts. They aim to negotiate a cease-fire to ease escalating tensions in the region.
