Saudi Arabia, Austria Explore Industrial Innovation, Training Cooperation

During a visit to Vienna, Austria, Dr. Abdullah Alahmari, Assistant Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Planning and Development, engaged in high-level discussions to enhance collaboration in industrial innovation and workforce development.

Dr. Alahmari met with Florian Frauscher, Director General of Economic Affairs, Innovation, and International Policy at Austria’s Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism. Their talks focused on strengthening ties in advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, and human capital development to keep pace with emerging industrial trends.

As part of his visit, Dr. Alahmari toured Siemens’ headquarters, where he was briefed on the company’s apprenticeship programs and its broad suite of training and qualification initiatives in the technology and industrial sectors. In meetings with Siemens executives, he explored opportunities to replicate similar training models in Saudi Arabia, particularly within promising sectors such as automotive, shipbuilding, and medical devices. Moreover, the discussions emphasized the role of these programs in supporting the integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in smart industrial cities.

Dr. Alahmari also visited the University of Technology in Vienna, where he reviewed the latest advancements in manufacturing at the university’s Pilotfabrik Industrie 4.0 center, a hub for cutting-edge industrial research and innovation.
