Saudi Air Defenses Thwart Hundreds of Iranian Threats since 3 March

Saudi Arabia’s advanced air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 799 hostile drones and 95 missiles since 3 March, the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday. Furthermore, Kingdom forces neutralized a dangerous cruise missile during past hours while recording zero attacks Saturday for the first time in weeks. This remarkable defensive record demonstrates the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to protecting its sovereignty and citizens from ongoing aerial aggression.

Sustained Threats Meet Unwavering Defense

Major General Turki Al-Malki confirmed the Kingdom’s integrated air defense readiness remains at peak operational levels continuously throughout this challenging period. Since early March, defense officials detected 86 ballistic missiles and nine cruise missiles alongside hundreds of hostile drones targeting the Kingdom.

Consequently, unmanned drones represent the overwhelming majority of aerial threats targeting Saudi territory during this sustained and coordinated hostile campaign. Meanwhile, mid-March witnessed notable attack spikes, with hostile drone launches peaking dramatically at 62 recorded incidents on 21 March. Additionally, ballistic missile activity reached 12 separate launches on 18 March, while cruise missiles peaked at three in a single day.

Protected Cities, Minimal Impact

Hostile forces repeatedly targeted Riyadh, Al-Kharj, Eastern Province, Prince Sultan Air Base, and the remote Empty Quarter desert region. However, Saudi interceptors consistently destroyed incoming threats before they reached populated residential areas or critical national economic infrastructure.

Moreover, falling debris from successful interceptions caused only limited property damage in uninhabited zones, with no significant civilian injuries reported. Therefore, the Kingdom’s sophisticated layered defense strategy continues safeguarding citizens, residents, and vital economic assets effectively every single day.

International observers commend Saudi Arabia’s transparent reporting and professional military response throughout this extended defense operation.
