Roshn Group announced the opening of registration for participation in the ‘Contribution Design Competition – Promising Design Offices Track,’ in collaboration with the Public Investment Fund. Submissions will be accepted until September 30, 2024.
The “Contribution to Design Competition: The Core Hub of the Sidra Community” invites emerging architects, including final-year students, recent graduates, and local design firms, to shape future living in the Kingdom. Participants will design prototype facilities for the “Core Hub,” such as a mosque, service center, primary school, and public park.
The competition offers two participation pathways, both prioritizing local talent and materials. The first is for teams of emerging architects, either recent graduates or those about to graduate with a bachelor’s in architecture.
Roshn Group supervises the second competition track. It is dedicated to promising design offices that must be founded by a citizen, based in the Kingdom, established less than 10 years ago, and employ less than 20 employees.
Participants will have professional development opportunities throughout the competition period through a series of workshops with leading local and international companies. Teams will work on completing their designs over a span of 14 weeks, with winners to be announced in February 2025.
Designs will be evaluated on local material use, uniqueness, functionality, and compatibility with the urban environment and sustainability. Finally, the winning team in the promising design offices track, supervised by Roshn, will receive 400,000 riyals, while second and third place teams will receive 300,000 and 200,000 riyals, respectively.
