Regional, Int’l Airlines Cancel, Reroute Flights Amid US-Israel Strikes on Iran
Several airlines across the Middle East and South Asia have abruptly suspended, canceled, or rerouted flights as US-Israel strikes on Iran forced widespread airspace closures, according to Arab News.
The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on Saturday, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.
Saudia
Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, announced it had canceled multiple flights over the current regional developments and widespread airspace closures.
The carrier also urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport, assuring passengers they would receive updates through the contact details linked to their bookings.
Emirates Airline
Furthermore, Emirates Airline has responded to the escalating tensions by temporarily suspending operations from its hub in Dubai.
The airline apologized to affected passengers and pledged support through rebooking, refunds, or alternative travel options, stressing that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority.
Qatar Airways
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways confirmed it had temporarily suspended flights to and from Doha, warning that delays are expected once regular operations resume.
It also unveiled that it deployed additional ground staff at Hamad International Airport and other key hubs to assist passengers.
Air India
The airspace closure has also prompted Air India to activate a sweeping suspension, declaring that “in view of the developing situation in parts of the Middle East, all flights to all destinations in the region have been halted.”
Air India emphasized that all its teams would be available for full support to affected passengers and called on customers to verify flight status online or contact its 24/7 call center for assistance.
News agencies also reported that British Airways had canceled flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain.
