National Center for Meteorology Holds Workshop for Saudi Universities on COP16

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology hosted yesterday an introductory workshop for Saudi universities on the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16), reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The workshop is part of the Kingdom’s preparations to host (COP16) that will take place in Riyadh next December.

The meeting saw the convergence of Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Deputy Minister Osama Ibrahim Faqeeha, National Center for Meteorology Chief Executive and chairman of the conference’s scientific committee Dr. Ayman Ghulam, and representatives of Saudi universities and the conference organizing committees.

With a special focus on determining the universities’ contributions to the conference, the workshop delved into the major activities and events that will take place during the conference and the successful outcomes for national universities.

The event also tackled the most important segments of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

Furthermore, it shed light on the national and global objectives of the conference stressing the significance of holding introductory events and activities and organizing visits for university students.
