Saudi Ministry Of Health Reveals Number of Corona Active Cases

The Ministry of Health revealed that the number of active cases reached 2,531, and critical cases 483.

At the same time, it pointed out that 353 new cases of the new Coronavirus were recorded, for a total of 376,021 cases.

The ministry said that 280 new recoveries were recorded, bringing the total to 367,015 cases.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that 5 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total to 6,475 deaths.

For the third day in a row, the Riyadh region topped the number of daily infections with the Coronavirus, as it recorded 186, and the Eastern Region came in second place with 67 cases, while Makkah Al-Mukarramah region recorded 43 cases, the northern borders 9, Hail 7, and each of Al-Jawf, Al-Qassim 6 and Al-Baha 3 cases, while Najran and Tabuk each recorded Two hits each.

On the other hand, a recent medical study confirmed that the effectiveness of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines in reducing hospitalization in patients who received the vaccine improved after the first dose of the vaccine to reach its peak between days 28 – 34 days (4 – 5 weeks) for both vaccines, compared with their counterparts.

 Those who did not receive the vaccine, as the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine in reducing the indication for hospitalization was 85%, while the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine was greater, reaching 94%.

The medical study was published in the BMJ magazine on February 22, 2021, and it is related to the follow-up of mass exposure to the Covid-19 vaccine. It was conducted in the United Kingdom in Scotland specifically on 1,137,775 people who were vaccinated between the period from December 8, 2020 to February 15, 2021 of the target group in the first phase For the Covid-19 vaccine, the results of the study showed the success of both vaccines in reducing the indications for hospitalization

This is the first study at a national population level in Scotland to evaluate the licensed and used vaccines in combating the Covid-19 pandemic based on the dangerous outcomes of infection with the virus.

The study recommended continuous evaluation and monitoring of the effectiveness of these licensed vaccines used in the United Kingdom on the rest of society. The researchers also advised to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of these same vaccines after receiving the second dose.
