Located in the heart of Diriyah (Google Maps link), Al-Oudah Mosque is among the region’s oldest mosques, having undergone three previous restorations—the last around 15 years ago. The current project emphasizes authentic Najdi construction methods, using mud and natural materials to maintain harmony with the local desert environment.

The renovation will expand the mosque’s total area from 794 sqm to 1,369.82 sqm, increasing its capacity from 510 to 992 worshippers. This enhancement balances historical preservation with modern community needs, ensuring the mosque remains a functional and spiritual landmark.

Al-Oudah Mosque is one of 30 mosques selected for restoration in Phase Two, spanning all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia. The distribution includes:

  • 6 mosques in Riyadh
  • 5 in Makkah
  • 4 in Madinah
  • 3 in Aseer
  • 2 each in the Eastern Region, Al-Jouf, and Jazan
  • 1 each in the Northern Borders, Tabuk, Al-Baha, Najran, Hail, and Qassim

This phase builds on the success of Phase One, which revitalized 30 historic mosques across 10 regions.

The Mohammed bin Salman Project merges traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainability, ensuring mosques retain their heritage while meeting contemporary standards. Specialized Saudi heritage restoration companies are leading the development.
