Mawani Reports 6.66% Increase in March Transshipment Containers, Reaching 148,192 TEUs

Mawani reported a mixed performance in March 2026. Transshipment container volumes rose by 6.66% year-on-year to reach 148,192 TEUs, up from 138,937 TEUs in March 2025.
However, overall container throughput declined sharply by 34.85% to 456,606 TEUs, compared with 700,864 TEUs a year earlier. Inbound containers dropped 42.04% to 163,142 TEUs, while outbound volumes fell 48.20% to 145,272 TEUs.

The total volume of general cargo, dry bulk, and liquid bulk cargo handled also decreased by 25.70%, falling to 11,278,830 tons from 15,179,503 tons in the same period last year.
On a more positive note, passenger traffic increased by 25.89% to 73,742 travelers, up from 58,576 in March 2025. In contrast, maritime activity declined, with vessel calls down 20.28% to 1,124 ships, compared to 1,410 ships last year.

Vehicle handling volumes saw a significant drop of 61.74%, totaling 34,534 units versus 90,271 units a year ago. Additionally, livestock imports fell by 27.03%, with ports receiving 635,265 head compared to 870,566 in the same period last year.
