KSA Hosts Ethical Aspects in Research of Modern Health Technologies Workshop
The National Committee for Bioethics at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology hosted a workshop titled “Ethical Aspects in Research of Modern Health Technologies.”
Batoul Bint Mohammed Yousif Baz, Vice President of the City for the Health Sector and Chair of the National Committee, attended the event. Many government bodies representatives and medical experts also attended.

Baz emphasized the workshop’s relevance amidst the leadership’s significant support for research, development, and innovation sector.
Health research is the sector’s national priority, especially with the rapid advancements in health technology. Therefore, ethical questions arised from these technologies.

Topics included gene editing, xenotransplantation (organ transplantation from animals to humans), and neurotechnology, along with the developments in gene modification.
Sessions on Cutting-Edge Technologies
Ethical Aspects in Research of Modern Health Technologies workshop included three scientific sessions namely
- Gene Editing Techniques: This session discussed the ethical and legal challenges in gene editing technology.
- Xenotransplantation: It covered the latest developments in organ transplantation from animals to humans, in addition to exploring the ethical and legal challenges.
- Neurotechnology: The final session focused on advancements in neurotechnology and its ethical challenges.
