The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made a significant leap in the Statistical Performance Index (SPI), issued by the World Bank. The Kingdom advanced by 25 ranks, securing the top position in the Gulf region.
Additionally, the Kingdom improved its position among the G20 countries, moving up four ranks to the 15th position, a significant rise from its 19th position in the previous 2019 assessment.
World Bank Announces SPI Results
The World Bank recently announced the results of the SPI, which assessed the maturity and performance of statistical systems across 186 countries. The SPI encompasses five main dimensions spread over more than 52 indicators, covering data sources and infrastructural components.
Notably, the Kingdom achieved a perfect score in data usage and marked an impressive 80.8% overall, a substantial leap from the previous assessment’s 63.4% in 2019. This advancement positioned the Kingdom as the most improved among the G20 nations, with a progress rate of 17.4%.

Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, the head of the General Authority for Statistics, credited the support and empowerment the Authority received during the recent period for the strategic transformations in statistical production and technical infrastructure.
