King Salman International Complex to launch “ARABIC PROGRAMMING” initiative
The King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language launched recently, the “Arabic Programming Initiative ” which is considered one of the most prominent technical challenges in the world.
Arabic Programming Initiative aims to create technologies and platforms that serve the Arabic language and enhance its position among the world’s living languages, with a total prize pool of more than one million riyals (about $267,000).
It comes to keep pace with the Kingdom’s technical leadership regionally and globally, and its access to advanced numbers in technical indicators.
It also aims to enhance the society’s role in developing technologies that serve the Arabic language in use, analysis, understanding, and production, by supporting research and creating effective solutions and digital initiatives to enhance technology positivity in the Arabic language issues according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language, confirmed that the “Arabic Programming Initiative ” makes a major contribution to strengthening the Kingdom’s international presence in the field of Arabic language processing and building close relations between researchers and those interested in language processing.
It is noteworthy that the most important areas of competition in “Arabic programming initiative” is the track of Arabic poetry, by employing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, creating and developing automated models capable of composing Arabic poetry, addressing its errors in meter and rhyme, and automatic prediction of the topic and type of the poem.
Those wishing to participate from all over the world can register until May 6, after which the acceptance phase begins in preparation for the launch of the programming competitions on May 25.
