The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, expressed in a statement his strong condemnation of the launch by the terrorist Houthi militia of a booby-trapped drone towards civilians in Khamis Mushait.
However, the Saudi air defences were able to intercept and destroy it before reaching the target.
Al-Othaimeen affirmed the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its lands, security and stability.
The Secretary-General stressed that the organization condemns the terrorist practices committed by the Houthi militia and those who stand behind it, providing them with money and weapons.
The French Embassy in Saudi Arabia also positioned against the continued targeting of civilians and populated areas in the Kingdom by the Houthi militia.
Ludovic Pouille, the French ambassador in Riyadh, said on Twitter: “The news of the crash of a drone launched by the Houthis over a school in Asir horrified me. On behalf of the French Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I strongly condemn this terrible, cowardly and brutal attack on a place dedicated to science, knowledge and education, where tomorrow’s generations are brought up.”
Recently, a booby-trapped drone launched by the Houthi militia fell on a school protected under international and humanitarian law in the Asir region.
Captain Abdul Aziz Al Jalban, the deputy spokesman for the Civil Defense Directorate in the Asir region, stated that the Civil Defense received a report about the fall of a projectile launched by the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthis from Yemeni territory towards one of the provinces of the Asir region.
