The Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Dammam on Wednesday concluded the sixth edition of the International Video Art Forum, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The event was organized in collaboration with the Cinema Association, under the theme “Imagination Embodied, Reality Transformed,” at the association’s HQ in Al-Khobar.
Over 10 days, the International Video Art Forum saw the participation of 56 artworks from 29 countries, selected from 127 submitted works from 41 countries.
The jury announced the winners of this edition, with Silvia Di Gennaro from Italy securing the first place. Meanwhile, the second place went to Hiroya Sakurai from Japan, and the third place went to Andrea Leoni from Italy.
Moreover, the jury awarded certificates of excellence to distinguished artists. These included Mishaal Suhaim Al-Thabiti from Saudi Arabia, Jérémy Oury from France, Nada Maher Metwally from Egypt, and Raquel Salvatella from Spain.
During the forum, several artists and video art makers shared their experiences and highlighted the special artistic elements of this edition. They also discussed their future aspirations for more innovation and technological advancement, exploring this art, and producing more creative works.
In the past five editions, the International Video Art Forum presented contemporary visual art experiences with cutting-edge technologies. It attracted more than 823 artworks from over 70 countries, in addition to hosting 31 seminars and specialized workshops. This has made it the premier international gathering for artists from around the world in the Gulf region.
