Saudi Arabia’s official meteorology spokesperson, Hussein Al-Qahtani, unveiled the anticipated effects of the hurricane “Tig” on the kingdom.

In a tweet on platform “X”, he indicated indirect influences from Tuesday to Thursday. This might result in moderate to heavy rain over the Empty Quarter desert and Najran region. He also mentioned that wind speeds could reach up to 45km/h, accompanied by airborne dust.

Hurricane “Tig” Developments

The tropical storm is currently centered south of the Arabian Sea.

The hurricane approached the Socotra Archipelago in Yemen. Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council directed the eastern provinces to be ready to mitigate the tropical storm’s impacts.

Yemen’s National Meteorological Center stated that the “wall of hurricane Tig” has begun to touch Socotra Island, with active thunderstorm clouds on the country’s western coast.

The tropical situation in the Arabian Sea has evolved from a “tropical storm” to a “first-degree tropical cyclone”. The hurricane center is 714 km from Dhofar’s coasts, with the closest accompanying cloud mass being 402 km away, according to the Omani news agency.
